JAMMU, Mar 21: IAS Officer hailing from Jammu and Kashmir, Raghav Langer has been appointed to the prestigious post of Secretary of the National Medical Commission & Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, GoI.
The National Medical Commission (NMC) is the over arching statutory body of the country to regulate medical education, medical professionals, institutes, and research.
As per details with Cross Town News , it replaced the Medical Council of India in 2020, by an Act of the Parliament. The all powerful NMC regulates & registers all medical colleges, institutes & medical professionals of the country & is responsible for assessment & grading of the nationwide private & govt medical institutions of the country to ensure quality healthcare.
Sh. JP Nadda , Union Health Minister is the ex-officio Chairman of NMC.
An alumnus of Government Medical College Jammu, Dr Langer (IAS: 2009) is currently working in the Ministry of Jal Shakti Government of India, as JS.
As the Divisional Commissioner of Jammu, he had spearheaded the COVID-19 mitigation response in the division and demonstrated exemplary professional acumen, leadership & coordination skills.
Medical fraternity across the spectrum has hailed the decision of the Centre to appoint a medical doctor cum bureaucrat to the top post.
