J&K Govt is committed towards restoration of rich cultural heritage and architecture in the region: Sidha

SAMBA, Feb 1: Director Archives, Archaeology and Museums J&K Kuldeep Krishan Sidha along with Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Sharma today inspected Preservation and Restoration works being executed by the Department at different heritage sites in the district Samba.

Additional District Development Commissioner Samba, Champa Devi, Assistant Director Archives Archaeology and Museums Jammu, Dr. Sangeeta Sharma, concerned Executive Engineer PW (R&B) Department Division Samba, Curator, Dogra Art Museum Jammu and Statistical Officer Planning also accompanied the Director.

The Director along with Deputy Commissioner inspected restoration of Bamchak Temple being executed by the Department at the cost of Rs 1.76 crore and revival and restoration of Mohar Garh Fort being restored at the cost of Rs. 91.54 lakh, both works are nearing for visible completion.

The Director advised the executing agency to install public information boards and sign boards at the sites for information of those who visit these places.

During the tour, the Director AA&M, Deputy Commissioner Samba and Additional District Development Commissioner Samba had a detailed discussion on the assessment of the Phase-III works, which the Department intends to undertake.

The department has already requested for framing a comprehensive plan for these works in consultation with Stakeholders and Elected Representatives.

The Director, Archives, Archaeology and Museums J&K conveyed that the Department is committed towards restoration of rich cultural heritage and architecture in the region.
