Court frames charges against a Govt Officer in trap case in J&K

JAMMU, Oct 22: Special Judge Anticorruption Baramulla Amarjeet Singh Langeh today framed charges against one Bashir Ahmad Khan the then Jr. Assistant in Tehsil Social Welfare Office, Sopore in trap case.

Special Judge Anticorruption after hearing both the sides observed that the evidence collected during investigation in the form of evidence of complainant, alleging demand of bribe by accused for aforesaid purpose, acceptance of same by him and subsequent recovery thereof coupled with evidence of witnesses involved in trap proceedings and other material available on record, explicitly indicates involvement of accused in commission of offence under Section 7 of P. C. Act.

Argument that since accused did not use his hands in receipt of money and only allowed the bribe money to be placed below his laptop and he as such be discharged is an argument which is bereft of both logic and legal force at this stage.

For all what is said herein-above, accused is prima facie involved in commission of aforesaid offence and he is charge sheeted for the same.

Accused pleads not guilty and claims to be tried.
