Omar'says Journalists won’t be punished for criticizing Govt’

Jammu, Oct 19: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah while speaking to media persons assured the media that no restrictions would be imposed on the press in Jammu and Kashmir.

Omar added that, “There will be no strictness, no injustice. Journalists won’t be punished for writing against my government. I know it will be difficult for me to see or read anything against my regime, but in democracy the media cannot be gagged. It has to be allowed to function without any pulls and pressures.”

He said that “I am aware of the fact that hurdles have been created in the accreditation and registration of many journalists. They have not received their press cards. These issues will be sorted out soon. Media organizations will be strengthened".
