JAMMU, AUGUST 13: Director Horticulture Jammu, Ram Savak today visited Government Fruit Plant Nursery, Vijaypur of district Samba and inspected the ongoing works in the nursery.
He was accompanied by Joint Director Horticulture Jammu, C. L Sharma; OSD, Ashwani Sharma; DHO, Rajesh Pangotra, besides DHO Samba, Hamid Ahmed, HDOs and other staff members of Samba district were also present during the visit.
The Director took stock of the ongoing developmental activities and gave on spot instructions to the concerned officer and nursery staff regarding the production of quantity and quality of grafted planting material in the nursery. He instructed them to achieve the targets set for production of fruit plants well in time to provide quality plants to the farming community for establishment of orchards.
Later, he inspected the block of imported Date Palm established in the nursery for trial purpose during the year 2021 and directed to prepare a Detailed Project Report for the establishment of new mother blocks of exotic fruit crops in the nursery.
The Director impressed upon all the officers and officials to put in their best efforts to disseminate awareness about Modified Ultra High Density Plantation Scheme, Micro-Irrigation Technologies, Protected Cultivation Techniques, Organic Farming, Mechanization etc., and maintain a close liaison with the growers/orchardists to enable them to enhance their fruit production and income by adopting latest technologies in their farms.
