
NEW DELHI, July 29: Anurag Thakur, BJP MP and BCCI President, is set for a new innings as an officer of the Territorial Army.41-year-old Thakur has been commissioned into the Territorial Army (TA) as a regular officer on Friday to become the first serving BJP Member of Parliament to join the military force.
Thakur made it to the TA after clearing an exam and a personal interview conducted in Chandigarh and training held in Bhopal.
While speaking to News Channel ABP , Thakur said : “My grandfather was a soldier. My father supported One Rank One Pension. I had taken out a ‘tiranga’ yatra when army was pelted with stones. On the 50th anniversary of 1962 war, I had taken out a ‘yatra’ from Tejpur to Tewang and have been raising issues related with soldiers.”
He said when need comes, he won’t shy away from fighting for his country along with soldiers
