Suchetgarh, Apr 28: Senior Congress leader and DDC Suchetgarh, Taranjit Singh Tony today conducted an extensive tour of the border villages along the zero line in Suchetgarh sector, reassuring residents and farmers amid rising tensions along the International Border. During his visit, Tony interacted with local farmers and border dwellers urging them to remain vigilant but not to panic. "Harvesting is currently underway, and crops are standing right on the zero line. Despite the tense atmosphere, farmers must continue their work with caution," he said. Tony expressed concern over a series of fire incidents that broke out in the border areas today.
"Crops were severely damaged in three separate fire incidents reported from Gharani, Hansa, and Abdullian. This is a major setback for the farmers who depend entirely on these yields," he stated. Calling attention to the inadequate safety infrastructure, Tony appealed to the district administration to immediately undertake repairs and renovation of the bunkers along the border. "Many bunkers have broken or damaged roofs. In their current condition, they are more of a death trap than a shelter. Immediate action is required to safeguard the lives of border dwellers," he warned. He further condemned the repeated unprovoked firing from across the border, holding Pakistan responsible for violating the ceasefire.
"It is always Pakistan that initiates unprovoked firing, endangering the lives and livelihood of our people," he added. Appealing to the border dwellers, Tony urged residents not to pay heed to rumors. "Please verify any information with civil or police authorities before reacting. In these sensitive times, misinformation can do great harm," he advised. Tony reiterated his commitment to standing by the people of Suchetgarh and all border residents, assuring them of his continued efforts to raise their concerns at every level.
