UDHAMPUR, APRIL 09: To review and reinforce measures to combat drug abuse in the district, Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Saloni Rai today chaired the District-Level Committee meeting under the Narco Coordination Centre here in Mini Conference Hall of DC Office Complex Udhampur.
The meeting was attended by Senior Superintendent of Police Amod Ashok Nagpure; Additional Deputy Commissioner Prem Singh and other senior officers.
A comprehensive discussion was held on different aspects of drug prevention, including identification and rehabilitation of drug addicts, tracking and apprehending individuals involved in drug trafficking, identifying drug abuse hotspots, strengthening Nasha Mukt Panchayat initiatives and implementing robust rehabilitation measures for addicts.
The DC directed the stakeholder departments to intensify counseling services and IEC activities to spread awareness about devastating consequences of drug abuse. Head of the Colleges were directed to organize regular awareness programs in their institutions.
The CMO was instructed to conduct sensitization and counseling sessions for staff at all healthcare institutions and to extend IEC campaigns.
The DC stressed strict enforcement actions to seize illicit drugs and protect the youth from drug abuse. The DC emphasized disrupting drug supply chains through a collaborative approach among all line departments.
