JAMMU, Apr 17: In a major step towards strengthening digital policing in the region, SSP Jammu Joginder Singh today inaugurated the newly established Crime and Criminal Tracking Network System (CCTNS) Lab-cum-Training Centre at the District Police Office (DPO) Jammu.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by DySP Headquarters Jammu Farha Nishat, Senior Prosecuting Officer Altaf Hussain, Inspector M K Chowdhary (PA to SSP Jammu), along with members of the Range Technical Team.
SSP Joginder Singh highlighted the significance of the lab, stating that it is fully furnished with modern tools and state-of-the-art equipment.
He said the lab would play a key role in improving the performance of the CCTNS Project in Jammu district by enabling better tracking of criminal cases, monitoring case disposals, and streamlining record maintenance across police stations.
The SSP further added that the lab will also serve as a training hub for police personnel, especially Investigation Officers and CCTNS operators.
He said the initiative would help familiarize officers with digital services like e-FIRs, e-Summons, e-Sakshya, and electronic record-keeping-thus contributing to faster and more efficient investigations under the new criminal laws.
On the first day of its operation, 23 IOs and CCTNS operators received training on various digital platforms and portals.
The SSP said such training initiatives would help officers adapt to evolving technological changes and equip them with the skills required for modern-day policing.
The lab is expected to play a vital role in enhancing transparency, accountability, and efficiency within the district’s police force by strengthening the use of technology in criminal tracking and investigation processes.
