J&K: High Court notifies change in sitting locations of Judges for improved justice delivery

JAMMU, Apr 7: In a move aimed at strengthening access to justice at the door steps, the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh has notified changes in the sitting places of several Additional District and Sessions Judges and Munsiff/Additional Special Mobile Magistrates across various districts.

According to a notification issued in this regard, the 2nd Additional District and Sessions Judge, Jammu, will now hold court at R.S. Pura Tehsil Headquarters in the building identified by the Principal District and Sessions Judge Jammu for the last three days of the week to handle cases from RS Pura and Bishnah, until a permanent court is established there.

Additional District and Sessions Judge, Bandipora, will sit at Sumbal Headquarters for the last three days of the week to hear cases from the Sumbal Sub-Division, pending creation of the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge for Sumbal Sub Division. In Poonch, the Additional District and Sessions Judge has been asked to hold the court at Mendhar Tehsil Headquarters from Monday to Thursday each week for cases within its jurisdiction, pending the setup of a separate court for Mendhar.

The High Court has also directed that the Munsiff/Additional Special Mobile Magistrate, Doda, will sit at Assar for three days in a fortnight in the premises to be identified by the Principal District and Sessions Judge Doda.

Munsiff/ Additional Special Mobile Magistrate, Thannamandi, will hold court at Darhal for at least three days a week to deal the cases originating from Darhal and the Munsiff/Additional Special Mobile Magistrate, Surankote, will also sit at Mendhar for at least three days a week.

While the Munsiff/ Additional Special Mobile Magistrate, Samba, will operate from Ghagwal for three days in a fortnight, the Munsiff/ Additional Special Mobile Magistrate, Kishtwar, will sit at Paddar for three days in a fortnight.
