Faridabad, April 2: The Faridabad police have arrested a senior manager of a Noida-based private company for impersonating an IPS officer and attempting to secure a pilot vehicle from the Police Department.
The accused, identified as Gaurav Sharma, was produced before a city and sent to judicial custody.
According to the police, the incident occurred on Wednesday night when the reader of DCP Central, Faridabad, informed the SHO of Palla Police Station about an unusual phone call.
The caller claimed to be DCP South Delhi, Surendra Chaudhary, and stated that he needed help in reaching Faridabad as he was unfamiliar with the route.
The SHO of Palla Police Station immediately contacted the caller’s number and proceeded to the Delhi border, where he met a person who identified himself as DCP South Delhi.
The individual was placed in a government car and taken towards Faridabad but when asked about his destination, the alleged DCP requested to be dropped back to Noida, raising suspicions about his identity.
Upon further questioning, the man was identified as Gaurav Sharma, a senior manager at Artech Company, located in Sector 62, Noida. He was arrested after being suspected of impersonating an IPS officer.
A case was registered under the relevant sections of law.
