JAMMU, Apr 2: In a decisive move to regulate traffic and curb violations, Team RTO Jammu, under the directions of Transport Commissioner Vishesh Mahajan and the guidance of RTO Jammu Jasmeet Singh, conducted a special drive at Bikram Chowk to tackle overloading by mini-buses, wrong parking by taxis, private cars and three-wheelers, as well as inspections of school buses.
During the operation, three-wheeler drivers were warned against unauthorized parking in front of the Railway Station and behind Shiv Market, particularly on the main road in front of Vaishnavi Dham.
Additionally, shopkeepers in Shiv Market were instructed to avoid parking their vehicles on the main road to prevent traffic congestion.
The crackdown saw approximately 200 vehicles checked, out of which 35 vehicles were e-challaned for various violations, and two vehicles were seized. The estimated fine collected from e-challans is around Rs 60,000.
The enforcement team included ARTO FS J-1 Bipen Singh Charak, ARTO Mohd Salim, MVIs Azad Hussain and Surender Kumar, and MVTA Taranjot Singh.
Vishesh & Jasmeet have reiterated their commitment to maintaining road discipline and ensuring a smooth traffic flow in Jammu but have lot to do by cracking down on Pvt Hospitals, Nursing Homes, which are creating chaos in the city due to not having required parking as per norms causing harassment to general public.
