New Delhi, March 18: Project Approval Board (PAB) convened at the national level under the chairmanship of Sanjay Kumar, Secretary, Department of School Education & Literacy (DoSEL), Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India, at Shastri Bhawan, to review the progress of Samagra Shiksha Scheme for 2024-25 and approve the budget for the financial year 2025-26, approved the budget of more than Rs. 2000 Crores under Samagra Shiksha & PM SHRI Scheme.
The meeting took place in New Delhi and focused on assessing key educational interventions and future planning for the holistic development of the children.
The PAB meeting was attended by Mr. Shantmanu, Financial Commissioner (Additional Chief Secretary) School Education Department J&K, along with senior officers including Mrs. A. Srija (Joint Secretary), Dr. Preeti Meena (Joint Secretary),Project Director Samagra Shiksha, J&K Bhawani Rakwal, and others.
During the meeting, the Secretary, Department of School Education & Literacy (DoSEL), Government of India, stressed the need to improve key educational indicators and called for a comprehensive approach to ensure quality education for all children.
He urged the Union Territory to expedite pending projects to bridge infrastructure gaps at various levels to strengthen the education ecosystem.
FC/ACS, JK UT emphasized that the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 places a strong focus on skilling youth and integrating education with industry and professional sectors, ensuring that students are well-prepared for future challenges and opportunities.
For the financial year 2025-26, the Centre has sanctioned a tentative outlay of more than Rs. 2000 crore for elementary, secondary, and Teacher education under Samagra Shiksha & PM SHRI Scheme.
Shantmanu assured that the approved interventions will create a conducive learning environment, fostering improved learning outcomes under a strong and well-structured education system.
Main Highlights of Budget 2025-26 Some key activities under 'Quality Interventions' component include assessment of learning levels, Learning Enhancement Programmes (LEP), strengthening of libraries and support for pre-nursery level gets highest allocation of the recommended Budget.
AAYA/Helpers shall be engaged for the Pre-Primary sections. Teacher Education, shall be utilized for the Strengthening of physical infrastructure in DIETs, training of Teacher educators, Programme & activities including faculty development. 1095 Vocational Labs shall be established under Skill Education. 89 KGBVs and 25 Girls Hostels shall be made functional by providing Residential Schooling and Residential Facility in the respective Institutions. Rs. 81 Crores shall be utilized for the purpose. Exposure visit for Stduents within and outside the state/UT shall be arranged in 2025-26 with financial implication of more than 10 crores. For 85000 Teachers & Administrators Capacity Building shall be done @ Rs. 15.60 Crores. Library Books shall be provided in 18328 Schools at a Cost of Rs. 17.45 crores Free Text Books and Science & Maths kits shall be provided to the students.
