Jammu, Feb 13: The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has trapped and arrested 'Sudershan Khajuria, Patwari Halqa Khanpur, Tehsil Marheen, District Kathua, for demanding and accepting a bribe of 15,000 for correcting a Girdawari entry in the revenue records'.
According to an official statement issued , a complaint was received alleging that Khajuria initially demanded 30,000 from the complainant, threatening to tamper with the revenue records if the bribe was not paid. “Under pressure, the complainant paid 5,000 but later negotiated the amount down to 15,000. Unwilling to comply further, the complainant approached the ACB for legal action”.
Upon receiving the complaint, the ACB conducted a discreet verification, confirming the bribery demand.
Subsequently, FIR No. 01/2025 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, was registered at ACB Police Station Jammu, and an investigation was initiated. During the probe, a trap team was constituted, which successfully caught Khajuria red-handed while accepting the bribe in the presence of independent witnesses. The accused was arrested on the spot, and the bribe money was recovered from his possession.
Searches were also conducted at his residence and office premises in the presence of independent witnesses and a magistrate. Further investigation into the case is ongoing.
