J&K: CAT to invoke Contempt of Courts against officer, if fails in non compliance

Srinagar, Feb 08: In O.A./515/2023 (SRINAGAR) Along With C.P./174/2023 CONTEMPT O.A./550/2023 titled QUASAR SHAFI Vs SOCIAL WELFARE  after hearing CAT ordered as under:-

Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that a detailed order was passed in the matter on 15-10-2024, wherein the court felt it expedient to direct all the respodents to produce the record before the court in a sealed cover, besides directing the DPO, Anantnag, to be present before this court to facilitate the just disposal of the matter.

Today the matter came up for consideration, but the order dated 15-10- 2024 has not been complied with.

Learned counsel for the respondents submits that he be granted one mercy chance to comply with the direction.

In the interest of justice, prayer is granted.

Two weeks' time is granted to the other side to do the needful failing which this court shall be constrained to invoke its jurisdiction under Rule 9 of the Contempt of Courts (CAT Rules 1992).

List for consideration on 04-03-2025 along with all connected cases.

In the meanwhile, interim direction, if in operation as on date, to continue till next date of hearing.

M.A. 1161/2024, having become infructuous, is, accordingly, dismissed.
