Senior IPS officer suspended for dereliction of duty, reinstated

Jaipur, Dec 21: The department of personnel reinstated Kishan Sahai Meena, a promoted Indian Police Service officer of the Rajasthan cadre, nearly a month after he was suspended for taking unauthorized leave during his election duty in Jharkhand.

Meena was suspended on Nov 15 on the recommendation made by the Election Commission of India after finding the officer's conduct to be a dereliction of duty.

The DoP order stated that the officer was being reinstated with immediate effect but it said that the departmental enquiry is still pending against him, but he has been asked to join duty in compliance with rule 8 of the All India Services (Discipline and Appeal) Act, 1968.

Promoted as an IPS officer in 2013, Meena served in various capacities in Rajasthan, including superintendent of police in Tonk and Ajmer districts, DIG in CID-CB and jail departments, and IG in Armed Battalions. In 2023, he was appointed as IG of human rights at Rajasthan police headquarters in Jaipur.
