On Visheshs tough directives on violators, RTO tightens noose; 49 vehicles challaned, 5 seized

JAMMU, Dec 20:  Vishesh Mahajan after taking over the charge as Transport Commissioner, J&K has issued directions to streamline the system.

Following which, Motor Vehicle Department today intensified inspection of vehicles across Jammu district, focusing on adherence to traffic rules, verification of documents and promoting responsible vehicle usage.

The drive was carried out under the supervision of Regional Transport Officer Jammu, Pankaj Bhagotra, on the directions of Vishesh Paul Mahajan.

During the drive, as many as 125 vehicles were inspected out of which 49 were challaned and 5 vehicles were seized for serious violations. Approximately, a fine of Rs 1,33,500 was realized from the spot.

The main focus of the drive remained vehicles plying with expired fitness (unfit vehicles), R/Permit violations, plying 2-wheelers without wearing helmet, overloading (P&G) etc.

Issuing a stern warning to all vehicle owners and drivers for strict adherence to traffic norms, Pankaj Bhagotra stated that violations, including reckless driving, underage driving and non-compliance to traffic rules, will lead to stringent actions such as seizure of vehicles, suspension of registration certificates and cancellation of driving licenses.

Speaking on the importance of responsible driving, RTO Jammu emphasized that parents can play a critical role in curbing underage driving. He urged people to take responsibility in preventing and playing their part in curbing underage, overloaded and over speeding driving habits.
