PD Samagra Shiksha J&K presides over culmination event of Bhartiya Bhasha Utsav 2024



 Jammu Dec 11:  Today, the culmination event of the Bhartiya Bhasha Utsav 2024, themed “Unity through Languages” (Bhashein Anek, Bhav Ek), was held at SRML School, Jammu.

Organized by Samagra Shiksha under the Department of School Education, J&K, the event celebrated the linguistic and cultural diversity of the UT.

The week-long celebration, which began on 4th December 2024, concluded today, showcasing extraordinary performances by students from various schools across the UT. Rakesh Magotra, Project Director Samagra Shiksha, presided over the event, with senior officers including Dr. Bilal Rashid, Deputy Director Planning, Jagdeep Padha, CEO Jammu and other dignitaries.

The event commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and rendition of the National Anthem. Students presented cultural performances in different regional languages such as Dogri, Kashmiri, Pahari, Tamil, and Sarazi, reflecting the rich linguistic diversity of J&K. The event is celebrated in the memory of great nationalist Tamil Poet Sabramania Bharti, who was popularly known as “Mahakavi”, a freedom fighter and social reformer in Tamil Naidu. Students from Udhampur, Kathua, Samba, Reasi, Jammu participated in the event.

In his address, Rakesh Magotra praised the vibrant performances of the students and emphasized the importance of languages in shaping personalities and preserving cultural heritage. He highlighted the efforts of Samagra Shiksha in promoting multilingualism, in line with the National Education Policy 2020.

He further, stressed upon the use of regional languages in all the educational institutions.

He also informed that, to reach out to the children in all local languages, is the priority of Education Department headed by the Principal Secretary School Education, Suresh Kumar Gupta, which shall enhance the learning outcomes and shall also increase the literacy rate across the UT.

He also said that, implementation of National Education Policy 2020, in school emphasizes the need for recognizing and promoting multilingualism as a path to realizing the fundamental aims of education and schooling.

He reiterated that, Samagra Shiksha focuses more on holistic approach towards providing ‎quality education integrated with Art & Culture, Sports and other domains in ‎alignment with New Education Policy-2020.

The celebration, held across schools and educational institutions, included activities and performances that inspired students to embrace their linguistic roots, he maintained. The programme proceedings were seamlessly conducted by the organizing team, with active participation from senior officers, among others Rameez Khan, Chief Accounts Officer, Coordinator Geetu Bangotra, Oneel Kumar Bhat (Nodal Officer, BBU), Kishore Sharma, Raj Kumar Chadha, Principal SRML School Satya Bushan attended the event.
