SRINAGAR: Tehsildar Shopian by showing his presence in the administration has ordered the removal of illegal encroachments on state land in the Trenz area, directing Naib Tehsildar Trenz to evict the encroachers within two weeks.
Previously, an inspection report submitted by the GQ Circle Shopian confirmed that 16 Marlas of land, originally designated as Ghairmumkin Patwar Khana in the 1969-70 Jamabandi, has been encroached upon. While the Patwar Khana currently occupies only four Marlas, the remaining land has reportedly been unlawfully occupied by some residents of Trenz.
The encroachment was further substantiated during a site visit, where it was observed that tin sheets had been installed by the encroachers, extending into the Patwar Khana land. Additionally, the report noted that the individuals in question, although recorded as owning only nine Marlas, were found to be in possession of approximately two Kanals of land.
Some local activist, expressed their appreciation for the Tehsildar’s decision.
Locals of other areas are also hopeful that other authorities will follow through with the promised actions.
It is to mention here that in a cancelled mutation of 31 Marla at Chowadhi by DC Office Jammu inspite of representation by attorney holder of 17 Marla legal plot communicated to DC Jammu to declare rest 14 Marla land as a state land out of 31 Marla , neither DC Jammu nor Tehsildar concerned acted may cause encroachment of 17 marla prime land?
