J&K: SDM bans use of mobile phones in school premises

UDHAMPUR, Nov 10: Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Rajinder Singh Rana has issued circular to ban use of mobile phone in the school premises of Sub Division Ramnagar here today.

The circular was issued by the SDM after conducting random inspection of schools when some students were caught watching prohibited websites inside the class rooms during school timing.

Some locals people of Sub Division also submitted complaints regarding misuse of mobile phones in the schools by teachers and students creating distraction, indiscipline and affecting overall academic performance of the schools.

The circular also reads that incase of any emergency, the mobile phone of head of school can be used. T

The Zonal Education Officers, principals, headmasters and other incharges of the schools (both private and government) have also been advised to ensure wide publicity and implementation of circular in letter and spirit.

The initiative taken by the SDM Ramnagar has been widely appreciated by the local people and other organizations as they appealed the education department to ban the use of mobile phones in the schools of entire UT.
