06 family members, including Mother & 03 Minors killed in a Land dispute

Chandhigarh, July 26: An ex-serviceman allegedly hacked to death five members of his family, including his mother, a nephew and two nieces just to claim one acre holding of his younger brother in Rataur village of Naraingarh.

Ambala Police said that one retired soldier Bhushan, with the help of six others, killed his mother Surti Devi (60), his younger brother Harish (35) and three of his brother’s family, including Harish’s wife Sonia (32), their five-year-old daughter Taru and five-old-month son Mayank, with an axe and other sharp-edged weapons.

Harish’s other daughter, seven-year-old Pari, who suffered burn injuries as the accused tried to burn the bodies succumbed to her injuries during the treatment at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research in Chandigarh, police said.

Police said Bhushan also attacked his father Om Prakash (68), who is undergoing treatment at the PGIMER.

All deceased were cremated in their village on Monday evening after the postmortem at the Ambala Civil Hospital, they said.

Based on Om Prakash’s statement, an FIR was registered against seven persons, Bhushan, his wife, two sons, two brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law for murder and other charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at the Naraingarh police station in Ambala district.

Bhushan, his wife and two brothers-in-law have been arrested, said police.
