J&K Sports Council under LG Manoj Sinha bring Jammu and Kashmir on International Map



JAMMU, Dec 31: J&K Sports Council under LG Manoj Sinha brought Jammu and Kashmir on International Map in year 2023.

Secretary Sports Council Nuzhat Gull and her Team managed events like Legends Cricket League , Khelo India events and most importantly participation of J&K Athletes in International and National events.

Where J&K Athletes brought laurels for Jammu and Kashmir and India.

The major achievements are:

Athletes of J&K Rakesh & Sarita won India's first Ever Gold at Archery World Championship.

The duo defeated Brazil's Para Compound Open Mixed Doubles Charao &Gogel inthe GMM of team event to clinch the title. This is the historic Gold for India.

Wushu contingent participated in Moscow Wushu Stars held at Moscow w.e.f 2nd to gth May 2023. Sh. Bhanu Partap Singh, Sh. Abhishek Jamwal and Smt. Jiya secured 03 Gold Medals respectively, Sh. Aman Singh secured Silver and Sh. Priyanshu Singh secured Bronze medal.

Youth participation in sports activities has grown significantly throughout UT of J&K over the past two years. Under the slogan "My Youth My Pride," "Har Din Khel Har Ek ke Liye Khel," "Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan," "Azadi ka Amrit Mahaotsuy," "Jan Abhiyan," "Calendar of Sports Associations," and "Regular Coaching Programmes,"53 lakh youth participated in various sports events held at the Panchayat, Block, District, UT, and national levels.

The Khelo India State Centre of Excellence in Fencing and Rowing Discipline is located in the UT'S capital cities and promoting excellence in sports through the use of employees hired through the scheme.

Athletes are taking use of the 9 1 functional against 100 SmalI Khelo India Centres that have been established at the District level throughout UT. 1 8 National level Competitions in 13 Sports Disciplines (Chess, Rowing, Table Tennis, Badminton, Pencak Silat, Wushu, Volleybal, Tennis Ball Cricket, Rollball, Sqay, Curling, Bandy, Snowminton and Winter Sports) and 01 International Competition in Pencak Silat discipline organised in J&K during 2022-23. Whereas 07 National levelcompetitions in 07 sports disciplines (Handball, Arm Wrestling, Thang-Ta, Athletics{North Zone) Tennis-BallCricket, Softball and Cricket) organized in J&K during 2023-24 (till06.12.2023), which provided platform to the Youth of J&K for showcasing their talent and gave peace massage. to the World as wellas the States / UT's of the Country.


This is performance in J&K in terms of hosting National 2nd Khelo India Winter Games was held at Gulmarg, Kashmir from 26th February to 02nd March,2021 in which 1375 athletes from 27 States / UT's have participated in which J&K secured 1 8 the best Championships. Gold, 05 Silver &34 Bronze medals and took first place inthe medal count.

Whereas, 3rd Khelo India Winter Games attracted 1500 athletes from 32 States and UTS, were successfully held in Gulmarg from 10th to 14th February 2023, J&K secured 26 Gold, 25 Silver and 25 Bronze medals and remained first in medal tally.

MEDAL TALLY: - Due to the availability of indoor and outdoor facilities, J&K athletes have performed admirably at national and international competitions in 2022-23.

The athletes won 262 Gold, 228 Silver,&304 Bronze Medals at the National level &05 Gold, 02 Silver,&17 Bronze medals at the International Level in the financial year 2022-23. Whereas, the athletes won 36 Gold, 34 Silver and 47 Bronze medals at Nationallevel and 06 Gold, 03 Silver and 04 Bronze medals International level in current financialyear (till06.12.2023). Due to the installation of high mass lights, activities received a lot of evening sporting enthusiasm amnong young encouragement, sparking intense attention.

The people and attracting Tulibal Sopore Khushal Stadium is a spectator example, where the community football event beautiful lights drew with high mast more than 20,000 youngpeople for the FootballCup final.


The Srinagar District's Industrial people play avariety of Downtown area,where lights, 30,000number of sports persons represented J&K in National / games until mid-night beneath high mast community activities have had the most success.

Zonal level Competitions in the discipline of Athletics, Arm Wrestling, Badminton, Archery, Body Basketball, Ball Badminton, Boxing, Building, Chess, Cycle Polo, Cycling, Carrom, Footbal, Fencing, Gymnastics, Hockey, Handball, Judo, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Kayaking & Canoeing, Sport Climbing, Netball, Powerlifting, Roller Skating, Squash, Swimming, Softbal, Table Tennis, Tenni koit, Tennis-ball Cricket, Thang-Ta, Volleyball, Veteran Athletics, Weightlifting, Wrestling,Skiing, Wushu, Baseball, Rugby, Rifle, Roll Ball, Soft Yogasana, Deaf Sports, Rowing, Kick Boxing, Sqay Tennis, Pencak Silat, Skipping, Silambam, Tennis Kalaripayattu, Tug-of-War, Mallakhamb, Arnis, Modern Volleyball, Gatka, Para Sports, Ice Skating, and Curling Penthalon, Ice Stock, 24 (till 01.12.2023).

During 2022-23 and 2023 42 sportsmen have competed for country in recognized international competitions in the discipline of fencing, wushu, sports climbing, Pencak Silat, gymnastics, parasports, judo, chess, veteran water sports, athletics and roller skating for current financial year.

Whereas, 43 for country in Sportsmen have competed recognized international discipline of Wushu, Rollball, competitions in the Para Archery, current " Under PMDP Scheme, 08 Junior Coach and 20 0191-2570423,0191-2560771 Roller-skating, Gymnastics, Fencing, Tennikoit, Rifle Shootingand Sports for financial year (till 06.12.2023).

Climbing been engaged on contractual basis to Instructor have enrolled in the centres to infrastructure. With this recruitment, athletes across UT will be beneficiary on daily will sustain source of basis and income to the trainers.

Further, advertisement notification for recruitment of 31 14 Junior Coach has been instructors and issued to make utility of sports infrastructure developed across UT. Due to the creation of a significant hub of UT of J&K, attendance of sporting facilities in the fields and potential to trainees at both outdoor and indoor stadiums has increased significantly.


In the UT of J&K, multisport synthetic turfs have been the sports of volleyball, footbal, installed in athletics, and hockey, with the elevateJ&KyouthtotheAsian /0lympicpodium.


For in-service athletes, LG's Rolling Trophy in disciplines has been multisport atmosphere t othe institutionalized to give tension free in-service athletes. By installing equipment across 20 disiricts, five volleyball centres per district, 100 volleyball courts were made operational. Centres for Water Sports, Fencing and Wushu have been created inBasohli Kathua, Jammu and Srinagar. To promote sports, yoga parks for athletes and senior persons with health programmes have been created. 18K Sports Council Bakshi Stadium.

There are 02 new tennis courtsat M.A. Stadium in Jammufor the budding youth t oget acquainted with basic sports facilities. To give the youth in rural, border, and community areas access to the most basic amenities and help them focus their energies in productive ways, 3696 Panchayat-level fields have been built. INFORMATION ABOUT PROJECTS FINISHED DURINGTHE YEAR 2022-23 an 2023-24 (till 06.12.2023): In total, 309 projects, including the following, were finished and delivered during the year: a. Total of 06 projects under the PMDP Scheme were completed, including the BakhshiStadium in Srinagar's sports facilities, the Multipurpose Indoor Sports Hall in Illahibagh, Handwara, Qoimoh Kulgam, and Doda. b.


Two projects, namely the construction of synthetic hockey turf at Pologround Srinagar and the construction of synthetic hockey turf at K.K. Hakku Stadium Jammu, were finished as part of the Khelo India Scheme. C. 82 projects, including 18 lighting projects, were finished under the JKIDFC. d. 198 projects in the Capex Budget for 2022-23 were completed.
