JAMMU, April 15: Awards do play a role in encouraging sportspersons and boosting those excelling at the National and international level. With more exclusive awards being constituted in the name of prominent citizens in the erstwhile J&K, the sports is surely going to get a major boost in the UT.
Now, a step ahead, newly formed Vansh Sabre Sports Foundation has decided to honour 50 such individuals with just announced Prof Chaman Lal Gupta Khel Ratna Sports Award.
The Award in the name of former Union Minister will be given sports administrators, government officials, sports doctors, sports managers, coaches and sports journalists in addition to the players of international repute.
“Undoubtedly, Awards motivate players and their parents as well. With more achievers being recognised for their hard work, those youngsters get motivated. As already announced, the Vansh SabreSports Foundation has decided to felicitate 50 players, their coaches and individuals working in the administration of sports in J&K, which is something very encouraging,” said member trustee of ArunSharma Sports and Social Welfare Trust, Ashutosh Sharma.
While players are felicitated by the Government annually on Republic Day, it was for the first time that sports administrators and promoters to get due recognition and honour. “Administration and promotion of sports remained a silent feature of the sports development. A number of individuals worked really hard behind the scene for the promotion of sports in various capacities in the sports associations and departments. Honour of such persons shall go a long way in boosting the sports in J&K,” expressing his views, senior coach and manager of J&K Sports Council, S P Singh said.
When contacted brain behind Prof Chaman Lal Gupta Khel RatnaSports Award, secretary of the Vansh Sabre Sports Foundation, Kuldeep Kumar Gupta said,” Efforts have been made to raise the bar of the Sports Awards. Things are being taken to next level so that the recipient should feel proud on being honoured. This is just a beginning and we will do more for the sports fraternity.
