JAMMU, Apr 11: Fairoz Khan, Former National President of NSUI, has been appointed as State Working President of Pradesh Youth Congress J&K.
Congress President Sonia Gandhi ji and Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi ji on Monday approved appointment of Fairoz Khan as the new State Working President of youth congress J&K.
This decision was announced by Srinivas BV National President Indian Youth Congress today on Monday April 11 2022.
He comes from a village Pogal, Tehsil Pogal Paristan Ukhral district Ramban & from a simple and non-political family with no political background. His father Muzaffar Ahmed Khan was a junior engineer in the public health engineering department who died two years back and his mother is a housewife.
Eldest among siblings, Fairoz of Pogal Paristan shifted to Ramban for higher education and later, he did BSc from Bhaderwah Degree College and plunged into politics. He studied law from Jammu University in 2012 followed by masters in political science. Presently, he has also done post graduate diploma in human rights and duties education from Jammu University’s law school.
He led the youth Indian delegation to UK in 2019 and has been vocal at National and international level. He joined NSUI in 2006 and from college president, District president NSUI, State General Secretary NSUI & First Elected National Delegate of NSUI in 2011 and Khan was appointed National Secretary of the NSUI on 16 December 2012, from a field of 120 candidates, following the final approval of Rahul Gandhi. He subsequently also held NSUI state-level leadership roles in A.P, U.P, Jharkhand, Telangana, Odisha & Delhi.
Khan campaigned against cheating in exams organised by the JKSSB, for the implementation of the RTE in Jammu and Kashmir, and supported relief efforts following the Kashmir floods of September 2014. At the age of 28, in 2017 Khan was sworn in as the 17th National president of the National Students' Union of India (NSUI). He was the first from Jammu & Kashmiri to hold this post. Fairoz Khan was the face behind the National Student Union of India's (NSUI) victory in Delhi University student body polls in year 2017 & 2018 & Within three months of being announced the national president of Congress’ student wing, Khan has made the party win in student body polls in the universities of four states i.e. Punjab, Assam, Rajasthan and Delhi. He is one of the popular student & youth leaders of this country and famous for his Chattar Akrosh Rallies & Inquilab programme. He thanked party leader leadership AICC President Sonia Gandhi, Former AICC President Rahul Gandhi ji, AICC General Secretary KC venugopal ji, National Incharge IYC Krishna ji & IYC National President Srinivas ji, PCC President G.A Mir shain & PCC Working President Raman Bhalla ji.
Mr. Khan thanked the leadership for giving him a chance & said that I always believed that the foot soldiers, organisational, experienced and youth leaders from non-political background that too from a simple family will be given chances to work for the party.
He added that a new place will be formulated to attract more youth in congress and will strongly oppose the BJP anti people policies.
