JAMMU, Feb 24: Senior Commonwealth Gold Medalist fencer from Jammu and Kashmir, Vishal Thapar is selected to represent the Country in World Cup Sabre Fencing Tournament to be held at Budapest Hungary from 11th to 14th March, 2021.
The Fencing Association of India issued a letter in this regard. The team is cleared by the Ministry of Youth Services and Sports,Govt of India. The team is fully sponsored by Sports Authority of India.
Vishal Thapar is a Khelo India Athlete and presently practicing in National Centre of Excellence for Fencing in Patiala for the preparation of world Cup Tournament and is also a recipient of Sher-e- Kashmir sports award. He is also a Senior National Gold Medalist, National Games Medalist, Thailand Open Silver Medalist.
