JAMMU, AUGUST 19 – Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Prakash Ganga today visited Industrial Complexes at Bari Brahmana and Samba to review the progress of expansion of these industrial hubs.
The Minister was accompanied by Commissioner Secretary Industries and Commerce, Shailender Kumar, Deputy Commissioner Samba, Sheetal Nanda, Director Industries Jammu R S Tara, MD SIDCO Amit Sharma and concerned senior officers.
During his visit to Industrial Complex Bari Brahmana, the Minister discussed the plans for the development of reclaimed land along the Balole Nallah adjacent to Industrial Phase-II to be completed at a cost of Rs 9.77crore. He was informed that the SIDCO has initiated the works for the development of reclaimed land and the necessary steps are being taken to expedite the process.
The Minister directed SIDCO to construct a Bund along the nallah in consultation with the Flood Control department to prevent erosion due to flash floods. He also asked SIDCO to explore the possibility to acquire adjacent private land for the project.
Chander Prakash Ganga also visited Birpur area of Bari Brahmana to inspect the land for establishment of new industrial units there. He directed Revenue department to check land records so that the acquisition process is initiated accordingly. He also asked the concerned to formulate a report envisaging the estimate for construction of road and power infrastructure at the said land.
Later the Minister visited Samba and discussed the development of infrastructure including acquisition of 713.75 kanal of land for Phase-III of Industrial Growth Centre. The project would be completed at an estimated cost of Rs 9.74 crore. The Minister directed the officers to expedite the process of payment of compensation to the land owners.
In order to create land bank for the establishment of new industrial units, the Minister also inspected various areas adjacent to the existing Industrial Growth Centre and directed the officers to collect the land records for further process.
The Minister asked the officers to identify the land far from the residential areas to avoid any type of disturbance to the residents.
Chander Prakash Ganga also discussed the establishment of Common Effluent Treatment Plant at Samba and Ghatti in Kathua. He asked the officers to complete all the necessary steps to establish the said plant in the industrial areas to treat the waste water of the industries.
The Minister said that government is developing the industrial infrastructure including the expansion of existing industrial estates and is working on establishing new industrial estates in the state for which the process of creating land bank is under process.
He said the Government is focusing on developing industrial sector in the state and various industrial units are coming up which will directly help in boosting the economy of J&K.
