DC Kulgam directs to intensify efforts to curb drug abuse and strengthen community involvement in its prevention

KULGAM, MARCH 16: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Shahzad Alam, today chaired a meeting of the District-Level Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) Committee at the Mini Secretariat Kulgam to review measures aimed at curbing substance abuse and narcotic trade in the district.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kulgam, Viqar Ahmed Giri; Additional Superintendent of Police Kulgam, Mohd Aftab; Joint Director Planning, Malik Suhail; SDM DH Pora, Bashir-ul-Hassan; ACR, Riyaz Ahmad Shah; ACD, Bilal Ahmad Kamgar; Tehsildars and other members of the NCORD Committee attended the meeting.

During the meeting, a detailed review was held regarding the implementation of decisions taken in previous sessions and the actions initiated by enforcement agencies to combat the drug menace.

It was informed that eight drug peddlers have been arrested and FIRs registered against them. The DC was also apprised that the district has achieved the 100 percent target for installation of CCTV cameras under the NCORD initiative.

Further, it was shared that inspections are being conducted across pharmacies, and action is being taken against medical shops for violations related to maintaining sale and purchase records during the current month.

The DC directed the concerned departments to intensify efforts to curb drug abuse and strengthen community involvement in its prevention. He urged all departments and stakeholders to work in close coordination to ensure the effective eradication of the drug menace from the district.

Later, the DC also reviewed District Level NDPS Committee meet.
