KATHUA, Feb 22: Kathua Police under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua Ms. Mohita Sharma IPS seized total 03 vehicles i.e 01 Truck laden with "Khair Wood" logs (weighing approx. 35 Quintals) & two Tractor Trolleys laden with firewood logs within the jurisdictional areas of PS Lakhanpur & PS Hiranagar.
In the first instance, on 22/02/2026 police team led by IC PP Basantpur PSI Anu Radha under the guidance of Addl. SP Kathua Sh. Rahul Charak, DySP DAR Kathua Sh. Bhagwan Dass & SHO PS Lakhanpur Insp. Neeraj Choudhary during naka checking at Basantpur intercepted one Vehicle (Truck) bearing Reg. No. Jk21D-9672 enrouted from Mahanpur towards Lakhanpur loaded with Khair wood logs weighing approx. 30-35 quintals.
Accordingly the vehicle alongwith the Khair wood logs were seized and the driver namely Mohd. Saleem S/O Noor Mohd. R/O Vill. Tarija Nagar Tehsil & District Gurdaspur was also detained.
As the matter pertains to the Forest Department the vehicle along with Khair wood handed over to the forest department officials for the further course of action.
In the second instance, on 22/02/2026 police team of PS Hiranagar led by SHO PS Hiranagar Insp. Amit Sangra under the close supervision of SP Ops Kathua Sh. Mukund Tibrewal IPS & SDPO Border Sh. Dheeraj Katoch JKPS, during patrolling/checking at Kootah area noticed two tractor trolleys loaded with firewood logs.
Thereafter firewood recovered was seized and later on handed over to the officials of Forest Department for further legal proceedings.
