Kanpur, Jan 08: Shockingly, A 14-year-old girl was allegedly abducted and gang-raped in Kanpur’s Sachendi area, leading to the arrest of a YouTuber and a manhunt for a police sub-inspector.
Kanpur Police Commissioner has removed Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Dinesh Chandra Tripathi and suspended Sachendi Station House Officer Vikram Singh over lapses and misrepresentation of facts in the case.
Based on her statement, Sub-Inspector Maurya and YouTuber Yadav were named in the FIR. Yadav has been arrested, while police have formed four teams to apprehend the absconding SI.
The SUV used in the crime, registered in Maurya’s name, has been seized. Investigations revealed that Maurya was in Sachendi at the time of the incident, despite being officially posted at Bithoor Police Station.
The victim’s family has accused local police of a cover-up, claiming they were initially turned away when they mentioned police involvement.
Her brother added that her mobile phone was seized and she was prevented from returning home until her court statement was recorded.
