JAMMU, Dec 26: The Special Crime Wing of the Crime Branch Jammu has filed a chargesheet in a cheating and fraud case involving Rs 9 lakh, registered in connection with a false promise of security admission in a veterinary college in Haryana.
The chargesheet was produced before the court of Passenger Tax, Jammu, in FIR number 18/2025 registered under section 318(4) of the BNS at Police Station SCW Jammu.
The case originated from a written complaint lodged by a resident of Srinagar, who alleged that the accused, Akhil Goel of Kanak Mandi area of Jammu, introduced himself as an education consultant and assured admission for the complainant’s daughter in Hisar Veterinary College & the complainant transferred Rs 9 lakh to the accused through bank transactions and digital payments between September 18, 2024 and October 10, 2024.
Despite repeated follow-ups, the accused failed to secure the promised admission and later stopped responding to phone calls. The complainant also visited the accused’s residence on several occasions, where he was informed by family members that they were unaware of his whereabouts.
Following a preliminary verification, the Crime Branch registered a formal case and conducted a detailed investigation & during the probe, it was established that the accused had dishonestly induced the complainant to part with the money by making false assurances, thereby causing wrongful loss to the victim and corresponding wrongful gain to himself.
