JAMMU, Dec 26: A record 4500 First Information Reports, complaints, Departmental Vigilance Cases and Preliminary Verifications were disposed of by the Crime Branch in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir this year headed by Inspector General of Police Sujit Kumar Singh.
Among them were 223 FIRs, 1009 Preliminary Verifications, 3070 complaints, 113 Departmental Vigilance Cases and 103 complaints received on JK Samadhan Portal & the high-profile Sainik Colony murder case was also worked out with accused, an Army soldier, arrested from Haryana.
Focus of the Crime branch was also on people-related issues like cyber scams in which innocent people lost their hard-earned money, job scams and land frauds. The issues which directly concerned the common man were taken on priority by the Crime Branch.
Several online fraud cases were worked out and in many cases people got their money back through efforts made by the Crime Branch.
With introduction of New Criminal Laws, the Crime branch prioritized the cases of public important besides long pending cases for disposal. This resulted into disposal of far more cases in 2025 than previous years.
