Centre Government approves 42 Additional Leave Days irrespective of the type of organ donated

New Delhi, Apr 06: The Department of Personnel and Training has issued a memorandum delineating the nuances of this special leave. As per the memorandum, any employee of the Central Government who undertakes organ donation is entitled to leave of either type up to a maximum of 42 days of special casual leave, irrespective of the type of organ donated.

The leave is intended to enable the donor to recover fully and be healthy after the donation. MOTIVATING EMPLOYEES TO DONATE ORGANS advertisement The motivation behind this decision by the government stems from the tremendous need for organ donors in the nation.

By adopting this policy, it is expected that most potential donors will not have to worry about time off work in regard to recovery or losing their job and instead focus on having more organs donated by government employees.

It is hoped that this will greatly assist to save as many lives through organ donation as well as improve the health outcomes across the country.

As a medical procedure, organ donation is surgery that has to be done medically, and one needs to think through it properly. This leave ensures that the donor goes through the necessary medical tests, the surgery and recovery without the burden of work expectations.
