JAMMU, Mar 1: J&K Gymnastics Association President Kiran Wattal today slapped a Rs 5 crore defamation notice on one Girdhari Lal Raina alias Ajay Bharti, stating that he had defamed him by making false & derogatory statements against him in a press conference.
A news report in this regard had appeared in a local newspaper on February 11, 2025.
Kiran Wattal was nominated as Chef De Mission by the J&K Sports Council vide January 27, 2025 order No SC/846-VIII/10278-84 to facilitate the contingent and make sure that they don't face any problems during the competition.
Besides J&K Sports Council, the Gymnastic Federation of India too had tasked him to represent the federation on its behalf.
It added that Girdhari Lal, in his press conference, made an attempt to belittle all good work done by LGs Administration by making false allegations just to draw political mileage out of it by dragging the names of the Chief Minister and the Sports Minister. He also made an attempt to create a regional divide in J&K.
