SRINAGAR, Feb 11: In a decisive action against narco-terrorism, Police have attached two residential properties of notorious smugglers under Narco Act in Kupwara district.
The residential houses of Zakir Hussain Shah of Takiya Bahadarkote, has been attached in connection with FIR No. 78/2020 registered at Police Station Karnah under Sections 8/21 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 7/25 I.A. Act, and 13,16,18,39 of Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA), police said on Tuesday.
The Police said that, the case pertains to the recovery of 5 Kgs of heroin, five pistols, and other arms/ammunition from his possession & added that investigations revealed that he constructed his house using illicit proceeds from drug trafficking.
In a similar act, the residential house of Imtiyaz Ahmad Khan resident of Chitterkote Karnah, has been attached in connection with FIR No. 38/2022 under Sections 8/21 of the NDPS Act, 3/5 of the Explosive Substances Act, and 13, 23, 39 of UAPA.
The case involves the recovery of 7 Kgs of heroin and two IEDs from his possession. It was established during the investigation that he acquired illegal property and constructed his house using drug money, contributing to the narco-terrorism network aimed at destabilizing the region.
Police added that in compliance with the provisions of the NDPS Act it has been ordered that these properties shall not be transferred, sold, or dealt with in any manner without prior permission of the competent authority. This action underscores J&K Police’s commitment to dismantling narco-terror networks that fuel crime and terrorism in the region.
