State Tax Department realizes penalty of Rs 2.08 crore from tax evaders

UDHAMPUR, Dec 14: State Tax Department, Enforcement Wing Jammu North (Udhampur) has realized highest ever penalty of Rs 2.08 crore and E-Way Bill verifications of 2.62 Lakh during the current FY 2024-25.

The Department detected 284 cases in contravention of Goods & Services Tax (GST) Act/Rules. Regular enforcement activities are being carried out based on inputs generated from data analytics and surprise inspections on the Goods/conveyance in transit under the close supervision of Deputy Commissioner Enforcement Jammu North (Udhampur) Anil Kumar Chandail to check the violations especially in high tax prone commodities like Tobacco products, scrap goods, cement, granite/marble, TMT bars and electronic goods etc.

Commissioner State Taxes appreciated the efforts of team Enforcement Udhampur for breaking the nexus of the scrap dealers especially between J&K and Punjab who were violating the provisions of the GST Act.
