POONCH, NOVEMBER 26: Deputy Commissioner Poonch Vikas Kundal today convened a meeting with the Social Welfare Department here in the conference hall of the DC office, to review its overall functioning and implementation of women and child centric schemes.
The Deputy Commissioner carefully reviewed the departmental activities and emphasized the need for improved coordination to ensure timely delivery of benefits to all eligible beneficiaries.
It was informed that 57,000 beneficiaries across the district are currently receiving old age pensions, while an additional 6,741 beneficiaries are enrolled in the National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP).
These government schemes are vital in providing financial support to the most vulnerable segments of the society.
The meeting was further informed that the District Hub for Women Empowerment has extended its services to 583 beneficiaries, underscoring the commitment to empower women in the district.
Listing other achievements, the officials said that the Child Helpline reports have facilitated successful rescue of 129 children by the department, reflecting ongoing efforts to protect and support vulnerable youth in the community.
The Deputy Commissioner expressed satisfaction over the hard work of the Social Welfare Department and encouraged continuous efforts to bridge gaps in the services delivery, ensuring that all eligible beneficiaries receive the support they deserve.
