Srinagar, Sep 17: Jammu & Kashmir High Court slapped Rs 09 lakh costs on government for playing "hide and seek" with orders as "it shocks the conscience that we tout ourselves as the fifth largest economy in the world, aspiring to be the third largest soon, but do not have the funds to pay legitimate dues," the Court added.
The High Court imposed exemplary costs of Rs 09 lakh on the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir for evading payments due from it to a contractor since 2015 in case titled Union Territory of J&K & Ors. v. Mohammad Afzal Reshi.
